2. What sweTAK Does
sweTAK is a mobile application for real-time situational awareness and team coordination. It enables users to share location data, send encrypted messages, and maintain a common operational picture across a group operating in the field. It is used in contexts such as search and rescue, hunting, emergency response, and professional field operations.
3. Data We Collect and Why
sweTAK collects and processes the following categories of data solely to provide its core functionality:
Location data
- The app collects your device’s GPS position in real time to enable situational awareness and map display for your team.
- Location data is shared only with other members of your active session and is not transmitted to any internet-connected server operated by Nerio Defense AB.
Messages and communications
- Text messages sent within the app are encrypted using AES-256-GCM before transmission.
- Messages are exchanged directly between devices within your session and are not stored on any cloud server.
Photos and media
- Users may share photos or other media within the app as part of field operations.
- Shared media is handled within the session only and is not uploaded to external servers.
Contact details
- Users may share contact details (such as name and call sign) with other participants in a session.
- This information is stored only on the devices of the users involved and is not retained on any internet-connected server.
Device identifiers
- The app may use device identifiers for session management and to distinguish devices within a group.
- These identifiers are not used for advertising or shared with third-party analytics services.
4. No Cloud Storage of Personal Data
sweTAK does not require users to create an online account. No personal data is stored on internet-connected servers operated by Nerio Defense AB. All data handled by the app remains on users’ devices or is exchanged directly between devices within a closed session.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. Data is shared only as follows:
- With other participants in your active sweTAK session, as required by the app’s functionality.
- With Apple, to the extent required for App Store distribution and device operation (e.g. crash reports if enabled in your device settings).
- If required by law or a lawful request from a competent authority.
6. Data Retention
Because sweTAK does not use cloud storage, Nerio Defense AB does not retain personal data after a session ends. Data stored on your device is subject to your own device’s storage and retention settings. You can delete the app and all associated data at any time through your device’s standard app management functions.
7. Your Rights Under GDPR
As a Swedish company, Nerio Defense AB complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Since we do not store personal data on our servers, most GDPR access and deletion requests can be fulfilled by the user directly on their own device. However, you have the right to:
- Request confirmation of whether we hold any personal data about you.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we do hold.
- Object to or restrict processing of your personal data.
- Lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) at www.imy.se.

8. Encryption
sweTAK uses AES-256-GCM for message encryption and TLS for data transport. Both are internationally recognized standards. No proprietary cryptographic algorithms are used.
9. Children’s Privacy
sweTAK is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
